Welcome to Backyard Talk!

After 29 years of organizing communities on the ground, we’re starting a blog to keep the conversation going online.  Building healthy communities is a big job, and means we’re always juggling a dozen different issues.  Hopefully this blog will give you some insight to the diverse work we’re doing on a daily basis.  We’ll also keep you up-to-date on new studies and policies in the environmental health field, introduce you to some of the at-risk communities we work with, and my staff will be sharing the lessons they’ve learned out in the field.

But most of all, I’m looking forward to hearing from you.  Every campaign depends on the community’s support and your comments and ideas will help us fight for a healthier future.

I’m on the road this week with my PVC Campaign Coordinator, Mike Schade this week to kick off a new PVC-free Schools Campaign.  I’ll let him tell you a little more about this exciting campaign in the next post, but in the meantime, we’ll be blogging from the road and sharing a few videos.

Until the next post,

Lois Gibbs

Executive Director

Center for Health, Environment & Justice
